Technology
Ceramic separation membranes developed by our company are characterized by the ability to manufacture separation membrane layers with precisely controlled pore sizes with high reproducibility.
Ceramic separation membranes with membrane pore diameter precisely controlled at the nanometer level (nanometer = 1/1 billion meter) enable separation at the molecular level, which is not possible with conventional separation membranes. They also have high durability that can be widely used in the petrochemical industry.
Our company has expertise in manufacturing functional separation membranes made of ceramics with precisely controlled pores of 1 nm or less, mainly zeolite membranes and silica membranes, as well as nanoporous substrates (nanoceramic separation membranes) for manufacturing various functional separation membranes.
In addition, because we have knowledge of promising application processes of this separation membrane and a process simulator (developed in-house), we can perform rapid and flexible process design and economic evaluation unlike any other company.
Technical Overview
・Utilizing our own know-how and the results of joint research with universities
・Supports a wide range of substances to be separated and achieves high permeability (processing speed)
・As a result, processing costs have been significantly reduced (equivalent to 40% of conventional distillation methods) and recycling has contributed to a highly recycling-oriented society

Proprietary Technology
Required properties of the substrate to intermediate layer
The required characteristics of the substrate (support to intermediate layer) for laminating the functional membrane (top layer) are (1) smoothness (no surface defects and few unevenness), (2) strength (pressure resistance), and (3) balance between permeability and separability.
① and (2), the thickness of the membrane increases and the permeability decreases.
eSep’s Strengths
We have developed an interlayer membrane that satisfies the above characteristics by adding a unique silica-based interlayer to a porous alumina substrate

Target market for the product
eSep’s silica membrane covers separation targets that cannot be covered by conventional zeolite membranes.
